If you think you're paying more for food these days, you're right. Here are some easy ways to keep more money in your wallet. Shop on a full stomach. You'll be less likely to impulse buy.
You'll spend less money if you shop with a list. So write down what you need and buy only what is on the list. Buy generic. Most store brands are just as good as the brand names. Use coupons.
You can save a ton of money, especially in those stores that do double coupon savings. Buy fewer convenience foods. You pay extra for that convenience. Be careful when buying large sizes. Sometimes the unit price is more.
Shop at a farmer's market. You'll spend much less for fruits and vegetables. Technology is not always our friend. Watch the prices on the cash register scanner to be sure they match the real price of the item. Buying produce out of season will cost you more because it has to be shipped in.
So save money and get fresher produce by buying it only in season. This is not a grocery store tip but it can still save you money. Bring your lunch to work. It really can reduce your food costs.
